JONESBORO, Ga. - Clayton County police say a carjacking suspect was arrested after his attempt to escape was slowed by his baggy pants.

Officer Danielle Rosa told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution police were pursuing 20-year-old Elijah Freeman as a suspect in a carjacking at a local apartment complex at about noon on Friday.

She said the suspect wrecked the car in front of the Clayton Police headquarters and tried to run on foot. But she said he was slowed by his baggy pants.

"He nearly ran himself out of his pants" she said.

She said Freeman has been charged with armed robbery and carjacking.

Rosa said a detective spotted a man driving away from the apartment complex and was trying to stop him when he crashed the car in front of police headquarters.
