Small racing boats make big noise at Watts Bar

KINGSTON - When Kate Augustine's bright red hydroplane racing boat conked out at the start of a national competition Thursday in Roane County, she received help from an unexpected source.

A fully clothed Kevin Ellison, son of one of Kate's competitors, leaped into Watts Bar Lake and towed the tiny but powerful boat back to a pier.

Kate's dad, Ian Augustine, cranked the boat back up and she resumed the race.
