East Ridge Police responded to an early afternoon shooting on Monday, according to East Ridge spokesman Robert Wade.

When police arrived at 5425 Marion Avenue, they found one person dead and another in critical condition.

"After a preliminary death investigation, it appears to be an attempted murder-suicide," Wade said.

The injured person was transported to Erlanger hospital for treatment, but Wade did not know the individual's condition as of 5 p.m. on Monday.

The names of the two involved have not yet been released.

This is the second suspected murder-suicide in the East Ridge area this month.

On July 3, family members discovered James and Susan Ingram dead in their Wimberly Lane home, each with a single gunshot wound to the head.

James Ingram was found holding a small handgun. According to police, initial reports indicated James Ingram shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.
