UNION CITY, Ga. - Police in suburban Atlanta say a police chase has ended in a fatal crash on Interstate 85.

Authorities say Union City police were following an unidentified woman driving a 1996 BMW that had been reported stolen Sunday afternoon.

Officials say the driver lost control of the car, the vehicle flipped and eventually crashed. Police say a woman who was riding in the car was ejected and died. An unidentified man who was riding in the car has also been taken to a local hospital.

The accident led to the southbound lanes of the interstate being closed for several hours.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.

Union City is about 17 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta.
