Hamilton County Clerk promotes organ donation

Hamilton County Clerk Bill Knowles is asking residents for an extra dollar when they register their vehicles. He says dollars save lives.

Knowles, along with 94 other clerk’s offices in the state, administer the Tennessee County Clerks Organ Donor Awareness Foundation, which aims to spread the word about organ and tissue donation.

The foundation has raised $4 million since 1996, and Knowles hopes that number continues to rise.

“Hamilton County citizens can join with other Tennesseans and register to be an organ donor. It can be done by simply clicking ‘yes’ when applying for or renewing a drivers license,” Knowles said.
