NASHVILLE - A Democratic activist from Monteagle is exploring a possible race in Tennessee's 4th Congressional District next year.

Lenda Sherrell, a retired CPA who worked on behalf of President Barack Obama's reelection campaign last year, confirmed today she is weighing a bid in the sprawling district, which takes in all or parts of 15 counties including Bradley, Rhea, Marion, Grundy, Sequatchie and Franklin counties.

The district is now held by U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais, R-Tenn., a South Pittsburg physician, who faces GOP primary opposition in 2014 from state Sen. Jim Tracy, R-Shelbyville, and state Rep. Joe Carr, R-Lascassas.
