Dalton Police seek man on sexual charges
DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton Police Department is asking for information on the whereabouts of 57-year-old Lawrence Edward "Larry" Womac.
He is wanted on warrants for rape, aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, cruelty to children in the first degree, sexual battery against a child under 16 years of age, and aggravated child molestation.
Shortly after midnight on Friday, Womac invited two juvenile girls into his room at the Guest Inn at 2220 Chattanooga Road.
The girls were guests at the hotel staying in a different room. Womac raped one of the girls and sexually assaulted the other, police said. Both girls fled. The incident was reported to police.
Womac has lived in the Dalton and Whitfield County area all of his life, but investigators do not have a current address for him. He stands about 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

Police investigate broken windows
DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton Police Department is investigating between 35 and 40 reports of vandalism of area businesses late Monday or early Tuesday.
In each case, glass windows were broken in the area of Thornton Avenue, Hamilton Street, Glenwood Avenue and Walnut Avenue. Investigators believe that marbles were used as projectiles at some of the locations.
Businesses damaged include the Panda Express at 1521 W. Walnut Ave., Al Johnson Volkswagen at 1202 N. Glenwood Avenue, Crutchfield Furniture at 209 N. Hamilton St., Buckin' Burrito at 212 N. Hamilton St., Audio Innovations at 1781 E. Walnut Ave., and the BB&T Bank at 2500 E. Walnut Ave.
In each case, the affected businesses were not entered. There were no reports of injuries from the broken glass.
Investigators from the Dalton Police Department are working to compile video. Anyone with information on these incidents or with video that might aid the investigation is asked to contact Detective Greg Bates at 706-278-9085, ext. 137.
Couple fined, can't own pets
SOMERVILLE, Tenn. - A court in West Tennessee has fined a couple $50,000 and ordered them to have no pets for 20 years.
The ruling in Somerville ended the prosecution of Drs. William Parr and his wife, Ricio. The Parrs were sentenced to six years of probation on guilty pleas to three felony cruelty counts. The first year will be served under intensive probation, similar to house arrest.
The Commercial Appeal reported the decision on Monday followed a rescue of more than 100 animals from the couple's former home in Moscow, Tenn. The couple now lives in a Shelby County apartment.
Among the animals were 168 dogs, cats, rabbits, pigeons, doves, gerbils, a canary, ferrets, lizards, rats and hamsters.
