Girl, 16, hospitalized after boating accident in Georgia

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - State officials are investigating a boating accident on Lake Lanier that injured a 16-year-old girl.

Department of Natural Resources spokesman David Allen said the teen was climbing into a boat on Sunday when she fell and was cut by the propeller near Buford Dam. The Times of Gainesville reports that she suffered a 16-inch cut to her left thigh.

The girl, whose name was not released, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville. Allen said she is expected to recover from the injury.
