A musician considered one of the three founding fathers of American free-improv guitar will be featured in a reunion stop by Ars Supernova tonight, July 25, at Barking Legs Theater.
Ars Supernova, not to be confused with a young Austin, Texas, band of the same name, is an institution, in the good sense, according to the Shaking Ray Levi Society and Flying Fingers Productions, which are presenting the show. The rock/jazz act dates to 1970s Jackson, Miss.
"Their periodic reunions are infrequent yet mind-blowing by all accounts, and this swing through the Southeast is cause for celebration," producers said in a news release.
Core members participating in this incarnation are Evan Gallagher, Bruce Golden and Jeb Stuart, with Williams as special guest guitarist.
