On Sunday, July 28, The Creative Underground begins its second annual Eclectic Summer Concert Series with the music that propelled the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and dozens more.

"Sounds of Motown" will begin at 6 p.m. at Barking Legs Theater, 1307 Dodds Ave. The tribute not only showcases the distinctive, soul-infused pop music that put "Hitsville USA" on the map but demonstrates its impact on other genres of music.

"Motown shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat," says Shane Morrow, director of TCU. "As successful as Motown was as a hit maker, its cultural impact may be even greater."

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for this musical journey, a show that Morrow predicts "will have all that attend up from their seats."

All events in the Eclectic Summer Concert Series will feature performers, musicians and artists from the Chattanooga area, paying homage to the original artists in various styles of music, from soul to country.

Concessions, including a cash bar ,will be available.

Tickets are $10. They may be purchased online at www.thecreativeunderground.eventbrite.com or at the door Sunday.
