Tennessee remains No. 1 in auto survey
Business Facilities magazine says Tennessee has retained its title as No. 1 in automotive manufacturing strength for the fourth consecutive year. Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio are next on the list.
Editor in Chief Jack Rogers cited Volkswagen, Nissan and General Motors, all with assembly plants in Tennessee. "A strategic joint effort by the state of Tennessee and the industry has created a tremendous business climate and a vibrant automotive ecosystem," said Tom Brewer, president of the Tennessee Automotive Manufacturers Association.
Cabela's to open 2 Georgia outlets
Cabela's Inc., the Nebraska-based retailer of hunting, fishing and other outdoor gear, plans to open new stores in the Atlanta suburb of Acworth and near the Georgia-South Carolina border in Augusta, Ga. Construction on at 100,000-square-foot store in Acworth. is scheduled to begin this fall and the new Cabela's is expected to employ about 200 workers when it opens in the fall of 2014. It will be located in the Cherokee Village development in the northeast quadrant of I-75 and Highway 92.
At the same time, Cabela's said it is building a 42,000-square-foot Cabela's Outpost store in Augusta, scheduled to open next spring.
