1 dead, 2 hurt in Georgia crash

A 17-year-old was killed and two other teens hurt in a one-vehicle crash Saturday in LaFayette, Ga.

A Georgia State Patrol news release stated that Joshua Allen Jackson, 17, of LaFayette, was driving a 2007 Ford pickup north on Chamberlain Road when the truck left the road and hit a tree.

Jackson died, and two passengers were taken to Erlanger for treatment. Kaitlin Dawn Keith, 17, of Chickamauga, was airlifted, and Austin Levi Goodman, 16, of LaFayette, was taken by ground vehicle.

The crash was reported at 2:15 p.m. and the investigation continues, the GSP statement said.


3 wounded in shootings

Three men are in the hospital being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries after two shootings in Chattanooga on Friday and Saturday.

D'Andray Thomas, 27, was shot in the chest around 11:40 p.m. Friday at 2502 Judson Lane, Chattanooga police said in a news release.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a shooting in the 2400 block of East 14th Street, where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

In both cases, police say the victims were reportedly shot while outside and the suspect fled the scene.
