These more formalized programs offer a performance interspersed with topical conversation.

• Friday, June 7: 2nd Carolina String Band, Chattanooga Public Library, 1001 Broad St., 2 p.m. This band of Civil War re-enactors strives for historical accuracy with songs of the era, authentic instruments and period-style clothing. Performance is in observance of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

• Saturday, June 8: The Barr Brothers at Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View, 2 p.m. (admission fees apply). Members of this Canadian folk quartet will highlight their use of found objects in music in conjunction with an art exhibit by Whitfield Lovell, who juxtaposes found objects with charcoal drawings on wood.

• Sunday, June 9: The Church Sisters at Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut St., 2 p.m. (admission fees apply). The country/Americana/bluegrass band is fronted by 17-year-old twin sisters Savannah and Sarah Church, who began their musical career at age 12.

• Monday, June 10: The Pimps of Joytime at Lindsay Street Hall, 901 Lindsay St., 1 p.m. The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based funk band will be part of an anti-gang/youth awareness event, with Stars of Chattanooga youth musicians from two city recreation centers.

• Wednesday, June 12: Harper at Tennessee Aquarium, 1 Broad St., 4 p.m. (free admission; use River Journey member entrance). The Australia-raised world blues musician, who plays harmonica and didgeridoo, will talk about Australia's environmental extremes and coral bleaching along the Great Barrier Reef.
