Top manager urges cooperation

EPB President Harold DePriest, who was recognized Wednesday as the Chattanooga Area Manager of the Year for 2013, cited a Scripture verse from Proverbs for his success at EPB and for Chattanooga's renaissance. The Proverbs lesson of "iron sharpening iron" reflects the heat and friction that often occurs when those of different minds come together.

"But if we have trust and respect, working together I've found that ordinary people can do extraordinary things," DePriest said. "That's the Chattanooga way."

DePriest, an electrical engineer who joined EPB in 1971, has headed the city-owned utility since 1996. He was praised during a Wednesday luncheon by Tennessee's top elected officials for helping create America's first gigabit-per-second Internet link in Chattanooga.

Claris Networks buys MindLinx

Claris Networks, a Knoxville-based cloud computing and information technology solutions company with offices in Chattanooga, has acquired MindLinx Technology Solutions in Nashville. Claris, a 15-year-old firm named by Inc. magazine as the fastest growing private IT company in Tennessee, now employs 90 workers across the state.

"Bringing MindLinx into the Claris fold bolts on even more cloud computing healthcare expertise to our tenured products and services," Larry Bodie, CEO of Claris Networks, said.
