SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Wildlife rehabilitators have rescued two juvenile bald eagles whose nest fell 75 feet to the ground during a thunderstorm.

The Mountain Press reported American Eagle Foundation volunteer John Prickett received an anonymous phone call Monday, saying a nest behind a supermarket on Winfield Dunn Parkway had blown down.

Volunteers from the foundation located the 6-week-old birds within an hour. One had sustained wing fractures. Both were taken to the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine for treatment.

Foundation President Al Cecere said he hopes both eagles will eventually be able to fly. If the more seriously injured bird cannot fly, it will be kept at the foundation for educational use.
