Guerra named "Chattanooga's Voice" at CTC benefit

What: The Chattanooga Theatre Centre launched a new vocal competition as a fundraiser for the community theater. More than 50 area singers came to an open audition, from which 10 finalists were selected. The finalists performed for a panel of judges and CTC audience following cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the CTC lobby.

Winner: Christian Guerra received a $1,000 cash prize and the opportunity to sing the national anthem for a Lookouts baseball game.

Sorority alumnae support Kids on the Block

What: The Chattanooga Kappa Delta Alumnae Association made a $2,500 donation to Chattanooga's Kids on the Block.

Benefits: Kids on the Block's puppet programs for area children on personal safety, including child abuse prevention. The grant also helped fund the nonprofit's Pinwheels for Prevention event, which was held at the Creative Discovery Museum.
