Generosity shown at bone marrow drive

This past Sunday, I was blessed to host a bone marrow donor registry drive at Chattanooga Christian Assembly. The turnout more than surpassed my expectations and I cannot thank the Chattanooga community enough for their participation. I would particularly like to thank all the members of the Assembly who graciously welcomed us into their congregation and enthusiastically signed up to be marrow donors.

Pastor Abraham was so kind to encourage his congregation to participate and to allow us, essentially strangers, to host the event at their church. The generosity in people's hearts never fails to amaze me.

Above all, as violence continually resurfaces in our country, with the recent California shooting and Boston bombings, such a willingness to give the gift of life restores my faith in humanity.

The drive was hosted in honor of Dr. Nalini Ambady, a professor at Stanford University, who has had a relapse of leukemia and has only a few weeks left to live. Forty people donated, and we hope to have found a match for Dr. Ambady as well as three patients within our county area. Once again, thanks for participating, and we hope to do more events like this in the future!

Country's leaders get away with more

It seems the president, the attorney general, the national security chief, the IRS commissioner, the secretary of state and the White Houses press secretary all tell blantant lies, apparently at times while under oath (committing perjury), then offer no regrets or apology and get off free.

Yet if John Q. Public so much as spits on the sidewalk and he goes to jail. I guess it depends on what the definition of is is!

Don't you just love progressivism? Thinking patriotic Americans would never elect people to govern with such an ideology. However, in the 2008 and 2012 elections, patriotic Americans were greatly outnumbered.

Cee Lo should be paid more to come back

It took an R&B singer to bring rock and roll to this year's Riverbend. If you do bring Cee Lo back, you should pay him more. It's my opinion that an open-air beer joint late at night is not the place for kids, anyway.

I remember The Possum had a few kerfuffles in his heyday also. That this was front-page news highlights the "charm" of our great city.
