Jonathan Byrd performs at Riverbend, in Blue Ridge (June 13, 15)

Singer/songwriter Jonathan Byrd, whose combination of Texas songwriting tradition, Southern storytelling and hot guitar picking has drawn comparisons to Doc Watson and Tony Rice, has two performances in the region this week.

Today, June 13, he will perform on the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union Stage at Riverbend at 7:45 p.m.

On Saturday, June 15, he will be at the Blue Ridge Community Theater, 2591 E. First St., in Blue Ridge, Ga., at 7:30 p.m. Byrd is touring in support of his latest CD, "Cackalack." The Kerrville New Folk Award winner is known for a mix of Americana, country, folk and acoustic music. The Riverbend show requires a $45 admission pin or $26 one-night wristband.

The Blue Ridge show costs $20 for adults, $28 for seniors, $11 for students (college or younger) and $14.40 for groups of 10 or more.
