2 shootings reported

Two men were wounded in shootings Saturday, Chattanooga police said.

Spencer McPherson, 20, was sitting in a car in an alley near his house when he was shot in the back just before 5:30 p.m., according to a police news release.

His injury was not life-threatening, and he was taken to a local hospital.

Police released no information on the motive or the suspect.

Edward Duckett, 18, was shot in his back, leg and hand during a gunbattle with an unknown number of others outside his home at 1006 Tunnel Blvd. about 4 a.m., police said. His injuries also were not thought to be life-threatening.

No information on motive or suspects was released.


Suspect nabbed in gas thefts

A suspect has been arrested in an investigation of multiple gasoline thefts in Chattanooga, police said.

Thomas Lee Bouch, 39, is charged with theft and vandalism after a combined investigation involving Chattanooga, East Ridge, Red Bank, Collegedale and Hamilton County law enforcement, according to a Chattanooga police news release.

The release said investigators know of 18 cases where the thief cut fuel lines on parked vehicles and drained the tanks.

Bouch was arrested by the Chattanooga Police Department's property crimes unit and is in the Hamilton County Jail, the statement said.
