Trial begins for Chattanooga man charged in 2010 home invasion shooting death

The murder trial of a 27-year-old Chattanooga man charged with three others in the home invasion shooting death here in 2010 began this morning in Hamilton County Criminal Court.

Unjolee Moore faces a charge of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and attempted especially aggravated robbery in the June 29, 2010, shooting death of 46-year-old Bernard Hughes and wounding of Timothy Westfield at Hughes' 4417 Oakwood Drive home.

Also charged were John Thomas "Cutthroat" Simpson, 32; Harold Francis Butler, III, 33; and Steven James Ballou, 33.

Simpson took a plea deal to second-degree murder in exchange for testifying against the other three men. Ballou and Butler are scheduled for trial together on July 16, also before Judge Don Poole.
