Hamilton County Commission bars distilleries from unincorporated areas

Hamilton County commissioners today voted to exempt the unincorporated county from the so-called whiskey law, effectively barring liquor manufacturers from operating in those areas.

If residents in unincorporated areas want to allow distilleries in the future, they will have to pass a referendum on a general election ballot to do so.

Commissioner Jim Fields moved to amend the initial resolution to specifically include that residents could vote on a referendum on the matter.
