Lane closures planned in Highway 27 construction area tonight, Friday evening

Thursday, June 20, 2013

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has reported there will be lane closures on Highway 27 in the construction area between Olgiati Bridge and Signal Mountain Road.

TDOT said tonight the contractor carrying out the work will close the left lane of U.S. 27 south from Signal Mountain Road to Manning Street. Paving will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to prepare for a coming traffic shift.

Friday night traffic will be shifted onto the new Highway 27 north construction between Manning Street and the ramp for Dayton Boulevard. That will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

TDOT said that while this is taking place, the left lane on Highway 27 north will be closed from the Olgiati Bridge to the Dayton Boulevard exit ramp and the left lane on 27 south will be closed from Signal Mountain Road to Manning Street.

TDOT said during this period the contractor will also be working on retaining walls and bridges in the project area.

Should bad weather prevent this work from being carried out, it will be reset for the earliest possible time.

At least one lane will remain open in each direction as the work is carried out, TDOT said.

Additionally, the Tennessee Highway Patrol will help with traffic control as necessary, TDOT said.
