I-75 has reopened through Chattanooga after southbound lanes were shut down around 5 a.m. due to an overturned tractor trailer that was hauling hazardous materials.

A van apparently sideswiped the tractor-trailer causing it to overturn, the Chattanooga Police Departments reports.

The truck was hauling containers of liquid floor stripper and a few gallons spilled onto the roadway. Authories said in a news release that it is not considered harmful to the community.

The incident and subsequent detour created bumper-to-bumper traffic on part of Shallowford Road near Exit 153 this morning.
