Scope: This 11-building, 400-unit apartment complex will include one- and two-bedroom apartments. The units will feature plush carpets, soaker tubs, washers and dryers, 9-foot ceilings, wood cabinets and granite-look countertops. The exteriors will include hardiplank siding and stone. Each apartment includes a balcony. The complex also will include a clubhouse, pool and workout facility.
Rent range: One-bedroom units start at $775, two-bedroom units start at $895.
Size: Each apartment ranges between 700 and 1,180 square feet.
Timeline: The project will be built in phases, and the first building should be finished within four months. The first phase is expected to take at least 12 months and will include 180 units. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by 2015.
History: This is Shumate Development's first project in Tennessee. The company is based in Columbus, Ohio. "This is a good property," owner John Shumate said. "It's a growing area, and we love Tennessee. We love the people there. So we wanted to build some really nice apartments for people to live in."
