Chattanooga child rape suspect due in court

A local man, charged with raping a child, is scheduled to appear in the Hamilton County General Sesions Court on Thursday.

James Wilson, of 3009 Dodds Ave., will appear before Judge Christine Sell for an incident that took place in June of last year, according to an arrest report. The child's mother left the child with Wilson while she and her husband visited the Riverbend Festival.

When the parents returned, the child approached the mother and told her that Wilson had touched her inappropriately.

The victim also told her mother a similar incident had happened once before, several weeks before, the report states.

Investigator Galen Fugh collected DNA samples and sent them to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation lab for analysis. The results showed a mixture of the victim's DNA on both of the suspect's hands.

Wilson is being held on a $900,000 bond.
