Drivers on state Highway 153 between DuPont Parkway and Boy Scout Road will see new traffic signal timing starting today.

Drivers should expect to see changes in how the signals operate, according to the Chattanooga Traffic Engineer's Office.

As an example, left-turn arrows might turn green before or after the green through lights, depending on the time of day. These variations are designed to maximize traffic flow and reduce delays on Highway 153 and side streets, according to the news release.

The modifications are part of the ongoing Intelligent Transportation System signal improvement program.
