A white male described as being in his 20s today attempted to rob the Kangaroo Express at 9652 E. Brainerd Road, but left the store when the attendant refused to open the register.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's office said the six-foot tall, slim man had approached the cash register with items from the store and had asked the clerk for two packs of cigarettes.
He then told the attendant he had a gun and demanded the register be emptied.
But, according to the release, he left when the clerk refused.
