Yarnell named at Chattanoogan

The Chattanoogan hotel has hired Chattanooga native Sarah Yarnell as the hotel's new catering sales manager.

She will specialize in weddings and social events. Yarnell has worked for the past two years as the special events coordinator at the Hunter Museum of American Art.

In that role, she worked directly with clients planning and executing weddings and special events, managed and coordinated facility rentals, public programs and donor programs, and developed and maintained budget and revenue goals for special events.

Before joining the Hunter Museum, she was a lead event coordinator at Soirées, a full-service event design and planning firm in Chattanooga.

Yarnell received her bachelor's degree in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from the University of South Carolina.

East Ridge hotels earn recognition

Two East Ridge hotels have received TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence awards.

The Best Western Plus Arbour Inn & Suites and Holiday Inn Express & Suites received the award as top-performing hotels.

The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.

Only the top-performing 10 percent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive the award.

Pettit joins SunTrust Mortgage

SunTrust Mortgage Inc. has named Herb Pettit sales manager for the Chattanooga market including Hamilton and Bradley counties in Tennessee and Catoosa and Whitfield counties in Georgia.

A 25-year veteran of the banking industry, Pettit has been a branch manager, area manager, sales and marketing manager and now a production manager.

"I pride myself on putting my clients first, always delivering the very best service to our clients," Pettit said.

Pettit is a graduate of the University of West Georgia. He serves on the board of directors for the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga.

Miller & Martin wins award

Legal Aid of East Tennessee has selected Miller & Martin as the pro bono firm of the year.

Miller & Martin was the first firm in Chattanooga to offer automatic payroll deductions to support legal aid, the firm said. It is also home to two Pro Bono Attorneys Hall of Fame inductees, Richard Crotteau and Marcy Eason, among other Miller & Martin attorneys who have been recognized by Legal Aid for their individual volunteer efforts throughout the years.

"Our firm is honored by this recognition," said Jim Haley, chairman of the firm.
