Kentucky couple pleads guilty in Tennessee to animal cruelty

TAZEWELL, Tenn. - A Kentucky couple has pleaded guilty to one count each of animal cruelty after being charged in Tennessee.

Charlie Gregory and Taniciah Little had been charged with 134 cruelty counts after Tazewell Police pulled them over because a horse trailer they were pulling had no tail lights. Police found the trailer filled with chickens, puppies, peafowl and other animals. None had food or water.

The couple said they were taking the animals to a flea market to sell them.

WVLT-TV (http://bit.ly/ZH07Pz ) reported Gregory and Little were given suspended one-year jail terms on Thursday and barred from owning animals for a year.

Officials at the Claiborne Animal Shelter said five rabbits and one dog died.
