The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of Middle Tennessee in advance of snow showers that could coat roads overnight.

Flurries were reported in Chattanooga, East Nashville and other areas across Middle Tennessee this morning, but meteorologists at the NWS said snow wasn't sticking for the most part. Some counties might get a dusting, but the more significant snowfall is slated to begin this evening.

Snow is expected to set in at nightfall and continue through noon on Saturday. Roads could be slick and visibility could be reduced, the advisory said.
