Watch VideoThe Chattanooga activist group Concerned Citizens for Justice is organizing a mass meeting to organize against what it says is police brutality in response to a videotaped beating.
"Poor people and people of color in the city of Chattanooga are terrorized by CPD daily and this behavior has to stop," spokeswoman Janelle Jackson said in an emailed news release Sunday night.
The video released last week shows two former Chattanooga police officers beating an inmate of a federal halfway house on McCallie Avenue in June. The officers were fired but have appealed to get their jobs back.
The meeting is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Eastdale United Methodist Church, 1403 Tunnel Blvd.
The public is invited to RSVP for the event on Facebook and get updates from Concerned Citizens for Justice on Twitter @CCJStreetTeam.
