The Town of Signal Mountain reported today that Honna Rogers has announced her intent to resign her position as town manager.

In an email, Rogers said that she has a young child and wants to spend more time with her family.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working for the Town of Signal Mountain," she said. "Our town is blessed with exceptional employees, who have helped me be successful in my job and who have been a pleasure to work with. I leave my position and my Council with the warmest regards. My husband and I are proud to be residents of Signal Mountain and look forward to raising our son here."

Mayor Bill Lusk wished Rogers and her family well.

"We regret Honna's decision to leave, but we certainly understand the need to balance family and career," said Mayor Bill Lusk. "The council, town employees, and citizens of our community have benefited tremendously from the work Honna has accomplished in the last five years. We are sorry to lose her as a town manager, but we are glad we get to keep her as a friend and neighbor."

Rogers said she will stay on the job until the budget for the coming fiscal year is drafted. Meanwhile, Lusk said the council will begin looking for her replacement.
