The monthly Southside Casual Classics series returns Monday, March 11, with a collaborative recital by Dr. Alan Nichols (pianist).

Nichols, who has been the keyboard player for the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera since 2003, frequently collaborates with singers and instrumentalists in Southeast Tennessee. This time, he will be performing with Dr. Jennifer Arbogast (mezzo-soprano), Gordon James (horn), Nicholas Hartline (clarinet) and Cindy Solfest-Wallis (flute).

James, principal horn of the CSO, will be featured on four pieces by Russian composer Reinhold Gliere.

Arbogast, who teaches musical theater, voice and music appreciation at Chattanooga State Community College, will sing "Von Ewiger Liebe" by Johannes Brahms and "Maybe This Time" from "Cabaret" by John Kander.

Hartline, who serves on the faculty of Southern Adventist University, Covenant College and Chattanooga State, will play "Tonada y Cueca" by Carlos Guastavino, an Argentine composer.

Solfest-Wallis, founder of Southside Casual Classics, will perform Czech composer Petr Eben's "Sonatina Semplice." She is on the music faculty at Lee University and Chattanooga State, and teaches applied flute at Covenant College and Cadek Conservatory of Music.
