Georgia jobless rate remains unchanged at 8.7 percent in January

Georgia's seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained unchanged in January at 8.7 percent, according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

That was the same rate as December and a decline from the 9.3 percent in January a year ago.

The GDOL said 47,700 seasonal jobs had been lost and there had been an increase in initial claims for unemployment benefits over the month, but noted that the increases weren't enough to affect the jobless rate.
