Orange Grove celebrates opening of intermediate care facilities on Thursday

The Orange Grove Center will celebrate on Thursday its opening of two new intermediate care facilitieson Mountain Creek Road. An open house will be held at the homes from 5 to 7 p.m.

These two additions bring to 18 the number of intermediate care homes Orange Grove has in this area. A news release said they serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical needs.

Each new facility houses four residents and a live-in house manager, the release said.

The Mountain Creek homes were funded in part by HOMEAgain grants administered by Chattanooga's Office of Neighborhood Services and Community Development, according to the release.

Also partnering in developing the homes were TWH Architects, Helton Construction and First Tennessee Bank, which also worked with Orange Grove on similar projects on Pinewood Drive and Chandler Avenue.

Orange Grove also drew support from the Alpha Beta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha to create a home-like atmosphere in the homes, the release said.

"When we decorate these homes, our top priority is to create a comfortable, welcoming environment for the residents and the people who support them," says Wanda Collins, co-president of the local chapter.
