'Bye Bye Birdie' at CCS

Sunday, January 1, 1905

Chattanooga Christian School's Theater Department will present final performances of "Bye Bye Birdie" this weekend.

Written by Lee Adams and Charles Strouse, based on a book by Michael Stewart, the Tony Award-winning musical comedy is set in the 1950s. It tells the story of a rock 'n' roll singer, Conrad Birdie, who is about to be inducted into the Army. As a publicity stunt, his handlers hold a contest to choose a girl for him to bid farewell with an all-American kiss on "The Ed Sullivan Show."

Shows will be presented at 7 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday, March 14-16, in the CCS Fine Arts Center, 3354 Charger Drive.

Tickets are $12. They may be purchased in advance at ccsk12.com. For more information, call 423-902-3661.
