Master musicians Jim Hurst and Rob Ickes will bring their "Rockin' Rob & Jammin' Jim" duo show to Barking Legs Theater on Saturday, March 16.
Hurst is the former guitarist for the Claire Lynch Band. Ickes plays Dobro for Blue Highway. They are widely considered among bluegrass' best players on their respective instruments.
Since leaving the Claire Lynch Band in 2010, Hurst has released four solo recordings, and his latest, "Intrepid," was chosen by David Morris of Bluegrass Today as one of his Top 6 CDs of 2012. His solo work showcases deft guitar work (Morris is convinced he has three hands) and soothing vocals.
Ickes was a founding member of Blue Highway in 1994 and is the most-awarded instrumentalist in the history of the IBMA awards. He won the International Bluegrass Music Association's Dobro Player of the Year award in 2012 for a record-setting 14th time.
