The Lee University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Alan Wyatt, will present its spring concert Saturday, March 16, on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus. The free performance will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center, 1053 Church St. N.E.

Included on the program will be music of Thad Jones, Sammy Nestico, Neal Hefti and Eliane Elias.

A frequent award winner at national festivals, the ensemble includes rhythm-section instruments, saxophones, trumpets and trombones.

Guest artists John Riley, drum set, and Lalo Davila, Afro-Cuban percussion, will perform with the Jazz Ensemble.

Davila, director of percussion studies at Middle Tennessee State University, was selected one of Nashville's Top 5 Percussionists of the Year in 1998.

Riley is on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music and is the drummer for the Grammy-winning Vanguard Jazz Orchestra in New York City. He previously toured with such world-class musicians as Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and Woody Herman.
