KNOXVILLE - A University of Tennessee task force has recommended live-in house directors, financial advisers and a "Good Samaritan policy" to allow students to receive medical help for themselves or peers without fear of reprimand.
The group today issued the recommendations aimed at helping improve fraternity and sorority life and culture on campus.
The committee, in an 11-page report, lobbied for more education for members of Greek organizations, more consistent enforcement of the rules and for more outside adult influence inside the fraternity houses.
The group also seeks to require fraternities with houses on campus to recruit and employ full-time, live-in directors who are not graduate or undergraduate students and who would establish communication among the members, chapters and housing corporation boards.
