Temple falls in NCCAA nationals

Tennessee Temple's first game in a National Christian College Athletic Association basketball tournament in 10 years resulted in an 87-58 loss to defending champion and No. 2 seed Cedarville University late Wednesday night in Winona Lake, Ind.

It was the first defeat in 14 games for the seventh-seeded Crusaders (22-12), who shot 38.5 percent from the field and made 22 turnovers while Cedarville was hitting 56.9 percent of its shots and losing only 11 turnovers. Austin Foote scored 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting for the Ohio team, including eight in its opening 12-0 run.

Elliot Johnson scored 13 points and Hampton Mack added 11 for Temple, which plays in the consolation bracket this morning at 10:15 against Spring Arbor. The Michigan team lost 83-59 to Oklahoma Christian University.
