The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is the first in the state to use Carfax's Police Crash Assistance Program, Sheriff Jim Hammond said in a news release today.

Networking with Carfax enables investigators to solve crimes faster, reduce administrative costs and better defend citizens against vehicle thefts, title fraud and odometer roll backs, Hammond said in the release.

Detectives will be able to receive instant notifications around the clock when there is any activity on a vehicle of interest, the release said.

The program has no cost as long as the sheriff's office makes crash report information available, according to the release.
