Beach party benefits clean water projects

What: About 150 people attended the annual Caribbean Beach Party, which was held in The Mill event hall with themed events such as limbo dancing, tacky island shirt contest, salsa dip cookoff along with live and silent auctions. The salsa contest was won by El Meson, followed by Taqueria Jalisco. Taco Mamacito placed third.

Benefits: The Student Environmental Alliance’s Caribbean SEA and TenneSEA clean water initiatives.

400 visitors get ‘Taste’ of local fare

What: About 400 visitors sampled specialties of 20 local restaurants and caterers during the annual Taste food fundraiser held in Stratton Hall.

Benefits: Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga.
