'Clouds' rolls away Saturday at Shanks; new works sought

"Clouds," an exhibit of a dozen 5- by 5-foot paintings created by Nashville artist Merrilee Vickers Graf for her senior thesis at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, will close at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Shanks Center, 140 N. Main St., in Crossville, Tenn. Original works by local and regional artists are also on display, and two- and three-dimensional works for the next monthly exhibition will be accepted 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, and noon-4 p.m. Monday, March 25. Two of the galleries will be open-themed; the themed gallery will focus on the human figure in April. Viewing hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. A first Thursday reception will be held 5-7 p.m. April 4 (all times are Central). Interested artists may view submission guidelines at www.cumberlandart.com. For more information, call 931-787-1936.
