Update: Man found shot to death in Chattanooga alley identified

Chattanooga police have identified the victim of Wednesday night’s shooting and homicide as 22-year-old Charleston P. Beard.

Police spokesman Nathan Hartwig said the young man's body was found about 11:30 p.m. lying in an alley near the 2200 block of Vance Avenue in Ridgedale.

Responding officers said he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Hartwig said detectives are working on the case and anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.

Beard is Chattanooga’s sixth homicide victim by shooting, and eighth homicide victim overall, in 2013.
