Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga is back in one of the biggest health plans run by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. Memorial and the state's biggest health insurer said Thursday that Memorial is once again a part of the BlueCross Network S plan, which includes more than 48,000 Chattanooga area residents. The multi-year agreement announced between Memorial and BlueCross allows BlueCross members enrolled in the Network S plan to access Memorial hospitals in Glenwood and Hixson, including the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center, the Chattanooga Heart Institute and Memorial Health Partners Foundation physicians.
"We look forward to building upon our long-standing relationship with BlueCross," Memorial president James Hobson said.
Doctors Express opens third site
Doctors Express has opened its third location in the Chattanooga area.
The new quick-care, physician office is at 1511 Gunbarrel Road in East Brainerd. Doctors Express already operates franchised locations in Hixson at 5241 Highway 153 and in Cleveland, Tenn., at 170 Mouse Creek Road.
Mortgage rates edge higher
Average U.S. rates on fixed mortgages edged up this week but remained near historic lows. Low rates have helped drive the housing market's steady recovery. Mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said the average rate for the 30-year fixed loan rose to 3.57 percent from 3.54 percent last week.
