Red Bank police apprehend alleged stabber

Location: Just north of downtown Chattanooga, Red Bank is made up of Dayton Boulevard and the surrounding residential side streets.

Size: 6.5 square miles.

Population: 11,808.

Founded: 1955.

Government: John Roberts is mayor, and Floy Pierce is vice mayor. Rick Causer, Eddie Pierce and Ken Welch are the other commissioners. Residents elect the commissioners by popular vote. Commissioners elect one of themselves to be mayor and also choose a city manager, who serves at the commission's discretion.

Schools: Alpine Crest Elementary, Red Bank Elementary, White Oak Elementary, Red Bank Middle, Red Bank High.

Attraction: The Dixie Youth Baseball Field is a center for activity, as is the community pool, located on Tom Weathers Drive just behind Erlanger North Hospital.

Traditions: Red Bank Jubilee, Red Bank Christmas Parade.

Fun fact: For the first time, Red Bank will take part in the Civil War tour this April. The city will feature two historic sites. At the corner of Signal Mountain Road and Dayton Boulevard, there will be a tent hospital like the ones used during the war. There will also be a spot on Memorial Drive marking Gen. William T. Sherman's former encampment.
