Location: Trenton is in the center of Dade County.

Size: 3.1 square miles.

Founded: Trenton was incorporated in 1845. City officials recognized engineers from Trenton, N.J., who had settled in the area.

Population: 2,301.

Government: Anthony Emanuel is mayor. City commissioners are Sandra Gray, Greg Houts and Tommy Lawson.

Schools: Dade County High School, Dade County Middle School, Dade Elementary School, Davis Elementary School

Attraction: Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, Cloudland Canyon State Park is one of the most scenic parks in the state, offering rugged geology and exceptional hiking. The park is split by a deep gorge cut into the mountain by Sitton Gulch Creek, and elevation varies from 800 to 1,980 feet.

Traditions: The State of Dade Heritage Festival each year in May celebrates the county's history, focusing on the myths and truths of Dade County threatening to secede from Georgia and the recognition by President Harry S. Truman of Dade County's return to the Union on July 4, 1945. Georgia had no paved roads connecting to the state's northwestern-most county until 1939.

Fun fact: Dade County claims to have the world's largest-screen drive-in theater, located off 217 Old Hales Road in Trenton.
