Appalachian Renaissance, set for 3:30-9 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in downtown Trenton, Ga., will celebrate the creativity of painters, sculptors, musicians and poets.

In addition to events that showcase the professionals, a collaborative project will draw out would-be artists from the community.

An exhibition and reception for participating artists will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Civic Center on Price Street, across the street from Jenkins Park.

Barry Snyder of Barry Snyder Studios will facilitate the community-wide participatory art project, themed “Express Yourself,” beginning at 4 p.m.

Chattanooga band Undoctored Originals will perform from 6-7 p.m., along with several spoken-word artists. Band/GRL will play dance music from 8 to 9 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $5 for the music to help support the Trenton Arts Council.
