NEWPORT, Tenn. - A woman who was formerly a Cocke County school bus driver has pleaded guilty to a first-offense DUI charge.

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, 39-year-old Cheryl Hembree entered her plea Monday in General Sessions Court and was sentenced to 48 hours in jail. She was also fined $350. An open container law violation was dismissed.

Police were tipped March 11 that a school bus was sitting in a church parking lot with the engine running. Police found Hembree sitting behind the wheel. There were no children on board.

Investigators said Hembree's blood alcohol level was 0.09, slightly above the 0.08 that statute defines as intoxicated.
