Hamilton County firefighters fight Highway 58 area blaze

Hamilton County firefighters have extinguished a fire that began this morning at a house at 6613 Shore Crest Drive in the Highway 58 area.

When the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded to a 911 call from the homeowner, they found heavy smoke and fire at the back of the house.

Firefighters put out the fire, keeping it from spreading to the rest of the house, a news release said.

It was noted that the homeowner’s dog died in the fire.

An estimated $60,000 in damage resulted from the fire, whose cause is under investigation.
